Micron has begun volume production of HBM4 36GB 12H, which is destined for the Nvidia Vera Rubin CPU-GPU.

The company said that the memory has greater than 2.8 TBps bandwidth, 2.3 times that of previous-gen HBM3E with the same capacity and stack height. It also offers 20 percent better power efficiency. Internal testing showed 11 Gbps pin speeds.

With HBM4 36GB 12H, alongside the industry’s first SOCAMM2 and Gen6 SSD now in high-volume production, Micron’s memory and storage form a core foundation that unlocks the full potential of next-generation AI.”

Micron SOCAMM2 is designed for Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 systems and standalone Vera CPU platforms, with up to 2TB of memory and 1.2TBps of bandwidth per CPU. The Micron 9650 is the first PCIe Gen6 data center SSD to be mass-produced for the data center market. It supports 28 GBps sequential read throughput and 5.5 million random read IOPS.

The company said that it had also demonstrated advanced packaging capability of stacking 16 die of HBM by shipping samples of HBM4 48GB 16H to customers. This provided a 33 percent increase in capacity per HBM placement compared to the HBM4 36GB 12H offering.
