Meta signs renewable supply agreement with Nexus in Lamar County, Texas

Will offtake power from the MRG Goody Solar and Storage project

Meta has signed a renewable supply agreement with Nexus Renewable Power for power from its MRG Goody Solar and Storage project in Lamar County, Texas.

The hybrid project comprises a 171.72MW solar array and 237MWh of battery energy storage. The project is currently under construction and is scheduled for operation in Q4 of 2025.

The exact capacity that Meta will offtake is undisclosed. The company has stated that the capacity will help Meta match its data center electricity use with clean and renewable energy.

'We're proud that Meta's global data center operations are matched by 100 percent clean and renewable energy, and we are excited to bring more new renewable energy to the grid through this important partnership with Nexus and the Goody project,' said Urvi Parekh, head of Global Energy at Meta.

In addition to the offtake agreement, Nexus also secured a preferred equity investment from investment firm Goldman Sachs. Nexus has said that the power supply agreement and Goldman Sachs investment represent approximately $220 million of project funding for the project.

Meta has signed numerous renewable supply agreements across Texas in recent years. In July, the firm signed a 600MW Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with natural gas midstream firm Enbridge for energy from a solar project near San Antonio, Texas.

In May, the company signed two PPAs with Meta to offtake 650MW of solar power in Texas and Kansas.

Also in May, Meta signed two Environmental Attribute Purchase Agreements with Sunraycer Renewables for the entire capacity of the 127MWdc (97.5MWac) Midpoint Solar project in Hill County and the 184MWdc (143MWac) Gaia Solar project in Navarro County, both in Texas.
