Engie North America has signed an Environmental Attributes Purchase Agreement (EAPA) Meta to supply 260MW of energy from its Sypert Branch solar project in Milam County, Texas.

Meta will purchase 100 percent of the facility’s output to support its net zero targets across its operations.

The 260MW project, located approximately 10 miles from Meta’s data center in Temple, is expected to commence operations in late 2025.

“We are delighted to announce this agreement to work with Meta by providing renewable power that supports their growth and aligns with their net-zero commitments,” said Dave Carroll, chief renewables officer, Engie North America.

This is the second major renewable supply agreement Engie has signed in the Texan market this month.

Last week, it signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Google to supply energy from its 350MW Chillingham solar project in Bell County.

The EAPA is Meta’s second renewable energy supply agreement in the Texan market in the last two years. In March 2023, it signed a PPA with Avangrid to offtake energy from its 240MW True North solar farm, which is currently in development in Falls County, Texas.

Meta has also signed PPAs in Indiana, Illinois, Arkansas, and Louisiana this year for over 1.2GW of contracted power in total.
