Hyperscale giant Meta and real estate firm CBRE have launched an initiative called LevelUp to train data center technicians in the US.

The program will train fiber technicians who will be responsible for installing “technical infrastructure, fiber-optic cables, network gear, and other mission-critical equipment.”

From this summer, participants will be trained in centers established and run by CBRE, and successful graduates from the four-week program will be able to work on Meta’s data center construction sites, says the press release.

Training will contain hands-on and classroom elements, according to the registration page for the program.

No prior experience is required and participants will be paid an hourly wage, though the amount is unspecified, says LevelUp’s own website. Relocation costs will also be covered.

The program is designed for “people looking to start a new career or recent high school graduates exploring options,” says the press release.

Earlier this year, Meta estimated that capital expenditure for the year would be between $115 and $135 billion, almost double the amount spent in 2025. Meta CFO Susan Li estimated that this would be driven by investment in infrastructure, and the company previously said in November 2025 that it would be spending $600bn on US data centers by 2028.

The company says that it has 27 data centers under construction or operational in the US, with more in the planning stages.
