A 51-year-old man has been rescued after he scaled a 250-foot radio tower in Eagan, Minnesota, yesterday (October 10).

The unnamed man was rescued by various emergency services, including the Dakota County Special Operations Team, which had to deploy a "high angle rope rescue" to bring the man to safety, as reported by Star Tribune.

He was rescued after climbing the Salem Media Group tower, located at 2110 Cliff Road, Eagan.

The publication has reported that the man was not employed by the company.

The emergency services were contacted after concerned residents heard cries for help near the tower at 5:51 am local time.

Authorities have suggested that the man was experiencing a mental health episode at the time of the incident. It's not known how long the man was on top of the tower for.

After being rescued, the man was taken to Region’s Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.

There's been several incidents this year in the US, where emergency services have had to rescue people from atop a cell tower.

In June, a tower technician in Nebraska needed support getting down from a tower after he got his hand trapped under some steel.

That same week, a man in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was talked down from a cell tower after spending hours atop the structure.

His reason for being up the tower remains unknown, though he was transported to a nearby medical facility.

Earlier this year, a man in Florida was arrested after climbing a telecom tower, just a month after being arrested for doing the same thing.
