The man has been named as Gere Walden from South Carolina. Walden had been at the site with co-workers, carrying out work on the communications tower, when he fell.

Walden died from his injuries at the scene, despite efforts to use CPR and an AED.

He was employed by Tennessee-based construction company Cross Communications.

The publication reports that Walden was wearing a climbing harness when he fell, as an investigation into his fall continues.

His death is the latest tower-related fatality of this year, following at least four other engineers being killed at cell sites this year alone in the US.

DCD sends its sympathies to the family and friends of Gere Walden.
