Korean electrical equipment manufacturer, LS Electric, has secured a 319 billion won ($216.5 million) contract to supply power distribution systems to Bloom Energy for a large-scale data center project in New Mexico.

The deal will see LS supply Bloom with power distribution solutions for the data center. While not explicitly reported by the companies, the data center is likely the Project Jupiter facility being developed by Oracle and BorderPlex Digital Assets in Doña Ana County, New Mexico.

Earlier this week, DCD reported that Bloom was set to deploy up to 2.45GW of its solid oxide fuel cell solution at the data center to act as its primary power option. The deal was part of an expanded partnership between Bloom and Oracle, signed earlier in the year, where Oracle agreed to up to 2.8GW of capacity, on top of an initial 1.2GW it contracted last year.

Oracle was confirmed as the major tenant of Project Jupiter in January. The project is expected to span 1,400 acres with four data center buildings, representing up to $165 billion in investment. Oracle will occupy the campus once construction is complete and will use it to host AI infrastructure for OpenAI.

Bloom is the leading company specializing in fuel cell solutions for the data center industry. The company’s SOFC fuel cells work by converting fuel into electricity via an electrochemical reaction, rather than combustion, which Bloom claims results in much higher efficiency and lower emissions.

Bloom has also signed deals with Equinix for deployments across 19 data centers, with a capacity exceeding 100MW. As well as an agreement with US utility American Electric Power for up to 1GW of SOFCs to power AI data centers off-grid.

Last year, the company inked a $5bn AI infrastructure partnership with global investment firm Brookfield, under which Brookfield will invest in the firm to support the development and deployment of its technology.
