Canadian fabless semiconductor company Emtar Technologies has closed a CA$18.5 million (US$12.9m) angel round.
The startup said it will use the funding to accelerate its efforts to develop next-generation wireless system-on-chip (SoC) and Edge computing technologies.
Founded in 2023 and headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, Emtar said it pioneers “next-generation GaN (gallium nitride) solutions,” setting new standards for power efficiency and performance by focusing on “ultra-efficient, low-power SoC architectures” that can be deployed across mobile Edge, infrastructure, and aerospace applications.
“The industry is undergoing a paradigm shift,” said Alvis Huang, CEO of Emtar. “With the support of our investors, we have made significant technological advancements. As we push the boundaries of innovation, we remain focused on delivering high-impact solutions that drive efficiency and sustainability.”
Emtar said that since securing the funding round, it has also expanded its R&D efforts and furthered collaborations with industry leaders, research institutions, and ecosystem partners.
