The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) has signed a multi-year agreement with Dell Technologies for its on-premises infrastructure.

Under the agreement, Dell will help LSEG to optimize its existing on-prem footprint and to create a new private cloud platform.

The value of the agreement has not been shared.

Dell will assist with the designing and building of the private cloud platform, which will be used to help "strengthen resilience and performance" across LSEG's data and analytics and markets platforms, which are not hosted in public cloud environments.

Irfan Hussain, LSEG CIO, said: “LSEG plays a crucial role powering the world’s financial markets through our trusted data and market infrastructure. Optimizing our on-premises and public cloud estate is vital in ensuring we continue to serve our customers with best-in-class services. Working with Dell Technologies enhances the flexibility and resilience of our systems, enabling us to continue delivering high-performance services for the financial markets.”

Doug Schmitt, CIO and president of Dell Technologies Services, added: "The financial services sector demands infrastructure that maintains continuous availability while meeting strict security and regulatory requirements. Our integrated infrastructure and automation capabilities give LSEG the operational resilience and flexibility to run its most demanding workloads while maintaining full control of its environment.”

LSEG has a complex IT infrastructure estate. In 2022, Microsoft acquired a stake in the exchange, with the companies stating at the time that LSEG would migrate to Microsoft Azure under a 10-year agreement with $2.8bn in minimum spend commitments for LSEG

At the time of signing that agreement, LSEG was based at a fully owned and operated City of London data center, but was said to be migrating to a Telehouse facility in London in 2023. Despite this, the stock exchange still states on its website that it offers exchange hosting from the City of London data center, which serves the London Stock Exchange, Turquoise, and Turquoise Europe trading venues.

While having a long-standing contract with Microsoft, LSEG expanded its use of Amazon Web Services (AWS) in April 2025, making AWS its preferred cloud platform for its markets, risk intelligence, and FTSE Russell divisions.
