Linx Group, a connectivity and data center provider based in The Netherlands, has opened a new data center in Warsaw, Poland, it says will serve as a bridge for data transferral between the East and West.

The 1,400 sq m Tier III LinxDatacenter is aimed at the enterprise and telecommunications markets and will be “the heart” of the company’s cloud solutions, according to Linx Group Chief Sales and Operations Officer Arno Coster.

“Poland, as the leader of the CEE (Central and Easter European) region with a rapidly growing economy is of strategic importance to Linxdatacenter,” Coster said.

“The country serves as a bridge between the West and the East where high amounts of data is being transferred on a daily basis.”

Linx Group President and CEO Jules Delahaije said the data center is one of the most technologically advanced in the region, and will be used to deliver Linx Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and other IT solutions including cloud computing and virtualization, colocation, data storage and managed hosting.

The 2.5MW data center is connected the Linx Group’s international backbone, which provides Direct Internet Access, Virtual Private Network, IP Transit and Ethernet connections services.

The Linx Group has more than 13,000 sq m of data center space in Moscow, St Petersburg, Tallinn and Warsaw.

It was a winner in last year’s DatacenterDynamics Datacenter Leaders Awards for Innovation in the Mega-Data Centre for a 12MW, 9,000 sq m facility St Petersburg, Russia.

It has a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) rating of 1.3 at full load, partly achieved by using free-air cooling and waste heat powered absorption chillers. Linx claims the same full load PUE for its new Warsaw data center.

The European, Middle East and Africa Datacenter Leaders Awards are now accepting entries and winners for 2012 will be announced on 13 December at a gala ceremony at the Lancaster London Hotel.
