Located in Liberty, Missouri, the recently acquired site totals approximately 30 acres of land already zoned and powered for data center use. The company aims to develop a 568,000 sq ft (52,770 sqm), 150MW campus on the site. Timelines for development weren’t shared.

“Partnering with Lincoln is an important milestone as we accelerate the Metrobloks brand,” said Ernest Popescu, Metrobloks CEO. “Combining our organizations’ complementary skills, strengths, and resources will enable us to deliver value for our customers, communities, and our respective shareholders. Lincoln has demonstrated data center experience in the Kansas City market, and we look forward to this collaboration between our two companies.”

Metrobloks first announced plans to invest $1.4 billion in Liberty in March. Local news report the company is developing at 2515 Old Hughes Road, securing planning permission for the first 177,000 sq ft (16,445 sqm), two-story building in December.

Lincoln is one of the largest private real estate firms in the United States. The company has long been an investor in data centers, previously through its Lincoln Rackhouse division and now under its dedicated Data Center Services group. Since 2010, the group has capitalized and managed more than $1.5bn in data center investments, including 20 operational facilities totaling more than 2.1 million sq ft (195,096 sqm).

“This joint venture combines Metrobloks’ specialized approach to delivering development-ready, high-density data center sites with Lincoln’s experience executing complex projects across strategic markets,” said Ryan Sullivan, EVP data center services at Lincoln Property Company. “Together, we’re well-positioned to deliver scalable, high-performance facilities in the near term, within high-growth data center markets, beginning with the Kansas City metro.”

Metrobloks is a data center developer and operator focused on AI-ready facilities at the metro Edge. The company counts Current Equity Partners, Serena Capital, and Eurazeo as investors. CEO Popescu was previously a VP of data center development at Iron Mountain and has also held roles at Meta and Amazon.

The company has projects in Detroit, Michigan; Miami, Florida; Indianapolis, Indiana; Phoenix, Arizona; and Paris, France. The firm recently partnered with Soluna to develop the latter’s Kati 2 campus in Texas.
