Legrand North America, an electrical and digital building infrastructure solutions provider, has acquired Electrorack, a provider of data center and telecom cabinets, power and cooling products.

Legrand said the acquisition helps realize its ambitions in the data center and telecommunications sectors.

The company is aiming to capitalize on its expectation of 10% annual growth rate in demand for cabinets and accessories in US. This demand is expected to come from data centers, broadcasters, telecom, industrial, military, aerospace and shipboard industries.

Brands under the Legrand umbrella include Cablofil, On-Q, Pass and Seymour, Vantage, Watt Stopper, Wiremold and Ortronics. The latter company provides cabling solutions for a number of applications, including data centers.

Legrand said the combination of Electrorack's well-established position with some of the largest companies in the US and its products' good fit with Ortronics would spur Legrand's growth in the voice, data and imaging space.

The buyer said it would keep Anaheim, California-based Electrorack's existing management team in place. The team will report to the president of Legrand's data communications division.

Legrand did not disclose the deal's financial terms.
