European data center operator LCL Belgium has completed renovations at a data center bought in December in Erembodegem, Aalst, Belgium.

The DataCloud data center , covering 1,200 sq m, has room to grow a further 1,300 sq m.

Its renovation saw it turned from a cloud center to a carrier-neutral data center, similar to two others the company owns that cater to the Belgian market, in Diegem and Antwerp.

LCL said its new data center has been made blade server ready to cater for growing data density and has a new electrical setup to provide more room for racks and suites, as well as a new high voltage transformer, five emergency generators and UPS.

It has also installed new cooling technology, which allows centrally produced cooling water to be divided across the data center, taking it as close to possible to the servers.

LCL managing director Laurens van Reijen said the location of the new LCL data center offers perfect backup for companies operating out of its other sites, meeting the requirement of 30km distance between both.
