Japan's second-largest telecom carrier KDDI Corp has announced it plans to invest about 25 billion yen to build or expand its existing datacenters in the UK, France and Singapore by 2010 to meet increasing demand from clients of Japanese companies with overseas operations.
The move will allow KDDI to handle international data transmissions with greater speed and efficiency, it said.
KDDI currently operates datacenters in the UK, France, China Hong Kong and the US and also plans to build new hubs in other countries in Eastern Europe including Russia and Poland, and in Asia including India and Vietnam.
The expansion plan will increase the square footage at its datacenters by 50 percent by March 2011, the company said.
