Italian police have reportedly searched the office of a Telecom Italian manager amid allegations of corruption.
As reported by Reuters, the search was carried out by Italy's finance police earlier yesterday (October 23).
Reuters notes that the police raided the office of the chief of procurement as part of an investigation into alleged private corruption.
TIM confirmed that a search had taken place at one of its offices, and pledged to cooperate with the police's investigation.
It's reported that the police had requested to search the offices and homes of two people who work for TIM, plus the Italian subsidiary of Japan's NTT Data, NTT Data Italia, as part of preliminary investigations.
Reuters stated that prosecutors have alleged that TIM's head of procurement Simone De Rose received €50,000 ($53,875) from an NTT Data Italia manager as part of a "corrupt relationship between private individuals."
Telecom Italia is Italy's biggest telecoms company with more than 30 million customers. The company confirmed the sale of its fixed network spin-off NetCo to investment firm KKR in July for €18.8 billion ($20.27bn), but could be worth as much as €22bn ($23.72bn) with earn-out payments.
NTT Data provides consulting and connectivity services to a host of network carriers, including TIM.
