An IT issue at Edinburgh Airport has led to all flights being suspended.

The problem affects the airport's air traffic controller provider, but no other details about the problem have been shared. Update: Flights have resumed.

The airport said in a statement: "Teams are working on the issue and will resolve as soon as possible."

Edinburgh Airport usually sees more than 300 flights per day, with 37 airlines flying to 155 destinations.

IT outages regularly cause flight chaos at airports and airlines, with this year alone seeing a major issue with Alaska Airlines flights.

An outage at its primary data center in October grounded flights across Alaska Airlines and its subsidiary Horizon Air for eight hours.

This was the second such outage in recent months, after a data center issue occurred in July and prevented flights for three hours.
