IQM Quantum Computers has made changes to its executive team, appointing co-founder Jan Goetz as sole leader of the company.
Former co-CEO Mikko Välimäki will transition out of his commercial role, the company said, adding that he would remain as an advisor until March 31, 2026. Søren Hein has been appointed chief operating officer and deputy CEO.
“Our dual CEO approach has served IQM well over the past two years, and I want to thank Mikko Välimäki for his significant contributions,” said Dr. Sierk Poetting, chairman of IQM’s board of directors. “Moving to a single-CEO structure reflects the maturity of the organisation and positions IQM to deliver the next phase of sustainable global expansion and long-term growth.”
Goetz added: “I am delighted to welcome Søren to his new role. We will continue to expand and strengthen our leadership team to prepare for the next phase of strong growth, in line with our technology roadmap and long-term vision.”
Founded in Helsinki, Finland, in 2018, IQM brings full-stack quantum computers and applications to HPCs, research institutes, universities, and business enterprises. The company operates quantum data centers in Finland and Munich, Germany, offering cloud-based access to its systems. It has delivered quantum systems to supercomputing centers in South Korea, Poland, Italy, and Taiwan.
In September 2025, the company raised more than $300 million in a Series B funding round, the largest Series B raise achieved in the quantum space outside of the US. In November of that same year, the company announced it was investing more than €40 million ($46m) to expand its quantum chip production facility in Finland.
