Ionos and Emma are working together to create a European sovereign cloud offering.
The two are combining Ionos' cloud infrastructure with Emma's European cloud management services to create a sovereign multi-cloud offering, available via Emma's end-to-end platform.
Emma's platform enables users to integrate complex multicloud environments, including those with hyperscalers or alternative IaaS. By incorporating Ionos' infrastructure, which has been tailored to meet European standards, customers can ensure their data meets local sovereignty requirements.
Achim Weiss, CEO of Ionos, said: “Multi-cloud strategies are a first step for European companies to use sovereign alternatives to hyperscalers. Emma shares our European values and stands for digital sovereignty. Our leading and secure cloud infrastructure, together with their powerful cloud management platform, offers businesses more choice and helps them strengthen their digital future.”
Dmitry Panenkov, founder & CEO of Emma, adds: “At Emma, we’re not just redefining how organisations operate in the cloud – we’re putting them back in control. With Ionos, we’re bringing an exceptional European cloud to the Emma platform, giving teams a sovereign, cost-transparent, and production-ready option they can spin up, scale, and integrate in minutes with effortless management, seamless multi-cloud integration, and uncompromising visibility into the financial performance of their entire cloud estate.”
Ionos operates out of some 30+ data centers across Europe. In September 2025, it launched a new location in Frankfurt, Germany, specifically designed to handle data-intensive applications, including AI, digital government processes, and financial services workloads.
Ionos is also part of Virt8ra, a testbed sovereign Edge cloud platform in Europe that launched in January 2025.
