Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) has confirmed the acquisition of fiber based service provider MNC Kabel Mediacom (MNC Play) in Indonesia as part of a collaboration with Asianet.

The acquisition expands the telcos FTTH business, adding 300,000 fixed home Internet and entertainment customers, and MNC Play’s IPTV business.

MNC Play's fiber network was acquired by Asianet, which is part of the Lightstorm Group.

Asianet will now own, manage, and operate all aspects of the network, confirmed Indosat.

“This acquisition aligns perfectly with our larger purpose of connecting and empowering Indonesians," said Vikram Sinha, president, director, and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison.

"Indosat's focus extends beyond numbers to enhancing the customer experience. With the addition of IPTV services that are provided by MNC Play, Indosat HiFi has expanded not only to unparalleled home broadband services but also to offer entertainment such as cable and interactive TV.”

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Earlier this year, Indosat was reported to be considering a sale of its fiber assets for around $1 billion.
