An affiliate of an Indian clean energy company could establish a 1GW data center campus in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Yesterday, AM Green Group (AMG), which specializes in the ‘green’ production of industrial materials and fuels like ammonia, hydrogen, and methanol, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Invest UP, the investment agency of the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

The memorandum, which is non-binding, states that AMG will establish an $25 billion AI infrastructure hub in the Greater Noida region. Initial capacity will come online in 2028, and the full 1GW will be available by 2030.

AMG will be responsible for providing energy to the facility – the company’s press release states that the facility will leverage “AMG’s leadership in renewable energy.”

But it is unclear whether AMG will run the campus itself or find a data center operator.

Founded in 2023 by former executives of renewable energy company Greenko Group, AMG claims to have around 100GWh worth of long-duration energy storage assets under construction that are set to be operational by 2028.

AMG currently owns a 25 percent stake in Greenko following a stake acquisition last July.
