Huawei has announced plans to launch a cloud region in Saudi Arabia.
Rotating chairman Guo Ping made the announcement at the LEAP conference this week in Riyadh. Details around specifications, location, or timelines were not shared.
“Over the past three years alone, many global enterprises have fully embraced digitalization, with the top 10 percent of these organizations growing their revenue as much as five times faster than those who have not embraced digitalization,” he said. "Huawei’s own customers, partners, and developers can rely on our services to help industries in the region go digital.”
The company this week also signed a strategic agreement with local telco STC to set up local data centers in the Kingdom; the deal will see manufacturing facilities for data center equipment and hardware established in Saudi Arabia.
Huawei Cloud currently has six international regions in Singapore; Bangkok, Thailand; Johannesburg, South Africa; Mexico City, Mexico; Sao Paulo, Brazil; and Santiago, Chile.
