A hot air balloon struck and felled a radio tower in Albuquerque, New Mexico last week during the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.

The incident, which occurred on Friday (October 11), knocked down a tower that transmits the radio signal for local station KKOB-AM, taking it off the air.

Nobody was hurt during the incident.

As reported by Wireless Estimator, it's the second time the same tower, which was erected in the 1940s, has been hit. Back in 2004 another balloon got tangled within the structure. On that occasion, the tower remained upright, unlike last week's incident.

According to reports, the balloon, which had three people on board, was able to land safely in a field.

The balloon, which has reportedly been identified as the Blue Moon balloon, collapsed the taller of the station's two structures when it collided around two-thirds of the way up the 645-foot guyed tower.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the incident.

Earlier this week, another balloon bumped into a power line in Albuquerque, causing an outage that left around 13,000 people without power for almost an hour.

Held since 1972, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta features around 1,000 balloons throughout the nine-day event, which attracts thousands of visitors.
