Satellite ground station startup Northwood Space has raised $100 million in Series B funding.
Announced by TechCrunch this week, the round was led by Washington Harbour Partners alongside Andreessen Horowitz. The Series B included participation from Alpine Space Ventures and other investors.
Northwood has also secured a $49.8m contract with the United States Space Force to help upgrade its satellite control network, Northwood founder and CEO Bridgit Mendler told the press.
Led by former Disney Channel starlet Bridgit Mendler, Northwood aims to build satellite ground stations that are designed with "fast production and deployment flexibility first in mind."
The firm is offering smaller phased-array antenna systems meant to support or replace older systems that rely on larger dish antennas. The funding will help develop the ground systems further and speed up roll-out.
The company secured $6.3m in seed funding in 2024 from Founders Fund and Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from several other firms. Last year, the firm raised another $30m in Series A funding from Alpine Space Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz, with several others participating.
