Google has launched a new cloud region in Bangkok, Thailand.

The region has three availability zones, and brings Google's global footprint to 43 regions.

Karthik Narain, chief product and business officer, Google Cloud, said: “Our new Thailand cloud region brings the same world-class infrastructure that powers Google’s global services directly to Thai enterprises, startups, and public sector institutions. With access to Google Cloud’s leading cloud and AI technologies, we’re giving Thai organizations a foundation for growth in the AI era, allowing them to innovate faster with greater control over their data.”

Customers in Thailand will have access to Google's AI products and offerings, and will be able to use the company's cloud infrastructure locally to reduce latency.

The company first said it would establish a region in the country in 2022, later pledging a $1 billion investment in 2024 to develop the cloud and data center infrastructure necessary.

At the time, Google said it would work with Gulf Edge to create a sovereign cloud offering in Thailand.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched a cloud region in Thailand in January 2025. Microsoft is currently developing a region in the country, and in October 2025 revealed it would use True IDC for one of its availability zones. Alibaba Cloud also has two data centers in the country.
