The project, known as Project Apollo, would see the demolition of existing buildings in order to develop a 15,400 sqm (165,764 sq ft), four-story data center and 3,575 sqm (38,481 sq ft) of ancillary office space, with a total floor area of 30,930 sqm (332,928 sq ft).

The site currently comprises two buildings totaling 23,190 sqm (249,615 sq ft). The site is zoned E3 Productivity Support, which permits data storage use.

Goodman said it aims to invest AU$1 billion ($690m) in the project. It has previously been offering the existing building for lease as the Talavera Business Park.

Last year the company filed to redevelop the site and a neighboring plot into a 24-hour logistics facility, but has seemingly decided to either pivot the project to data centers or increase its options for the site.

Goodman is an integrated property group with operations throughout Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Europe, the UK, and the Americas. it has more than 1GW of projects in operation or development, and said it has 5GW of secured or potential power within its portfolio.

Macquarie Data Centres, NextDC, Vodafone, and Fujitsu have data centers around Macquarie Park. Stockland is also developing data centers in the area. ESR was recently looking to sell a plot of land in the area earmarked for data center development.

Goodman is developing multiple sites across Sydney. The company is planning a 126MW data center in Guildford West on a former Castrol site and is seeking to redevelop the former ABC television studios in the city’s North Shore area into an 80MW data center. It is also redeveloping a former Eaton warehouse site in Mascot into a 90MW facility.

In April 2023, the company announced plans for a 100MW powered shell in Frankfurt, Germany. The company recently announced plans to expand its data center footprint in Japan and that it had broken ground on a new facility in Hong Kong.
