Data center management software developer Global DataCenter Management has taken the name of its core product, six years after the company's launch. nlyte is the name of the company's five-module software suite for monitoring and managing data center performance and now is also the name of the company.
"The thought was ... to align our product as well as our company name to simplify our messaging and our branding going forward," nlyte spokesman Mark Stumm said.
GDCM was launched in 2003 and was originally a provider of data center planning and optimization consulting services. nlyte was launched in Europe in 2006 and introduced in the U.S. two years later. Stumm said the company viewed Aperture as its main competitor in both U.S. and European markets.
In the same statement the company also announced having secured a new $8 million investment from Ruffer, a UK-based provider of wealth management services. nlyte said the funds will be used for continued expansion of its global operations. No changes have been made in the company's ownership or management structure in conjunction with the name change.
nlyte software suite's five modules are nlyte Core - a repository of all IT assets; nlyte Organizer - enabler of control of relationships between data center resources and an organization's business groups; nlyte Control - used to define and control service-request execution; nlyte Report - a compiler of detailed business intelligence; and nlyte Floor Planner - a graphic tool for planning and managing the data center's layout.
nlyte Floor Planner allows users to drag and drop assets onto the floor plan, allowing for precise room-layout plans
