Tel Aviv-based Gilat Satellite Networks has announced more than $15 million in orders at its commercial division from leading satellite operators worldwide, delivering throughout 2025.
The company reported a particular emphasis on in-flight connectivity operations among the new orders for multi-service applications, as well as further interest in multi-orbit services over geostationary, medium-Earth, and low-Earth orbit satellite connectivity.
“These significant orders from some of the world’s most prominent satellite operators reaffirm our position as a trusted partner for enabling next-generation satellite services,” said Ron Levin, president of Gilat’s commercial division. “We’re seeing strong and consistent demand for our products and solutions, and we’re proud to play a key role in supporting the expansion of global broadband connectivity across LEO, GEO, and MEO constellations.”
Gilat did not immediately respond to DCD’s request for comment.
Defense segment success
The news arrives in the same month that the company saw a multi-million-dollar order from an unnamed global defense organization for the supply of advanced antenna technology; another $11 million+ contact with a leading UAV company for its DKET 3420 transportable hubs; and contract for satellite transportable terminal (STT) units for US DoD customers through its newly formed defense division. This could span five years and be worth up to $23 million, Gilat said.
“The newly formed defense division is firmly on track to meet and exceed the demanding expectations of our global defense customers, and this award is a testament to that momentum,” said Gilad Landsberg, president of Gilat Defense.
The latter two contracts are made possible through the technology of Gilat DataPath, a wholly owned subsidiary acquired in November of 2023 for an undisclosed sum.
The DKET 3420 transportable hubs are designed to support multi-carrier operations with a scalable modem architecture capable of handling up to 32 modems supporting mission-critical field communications.
“DataPath is the pillar we have been seeking to rapidly realize in Gilat’s strategy. With annual revenues in the defense sector forecasted to increase by approximately $50 million, we are building upon the new, strong synergies enabled by the acquisition,” Adi Sfadia, Gilat’s CEO said of the DataPath acquisition at the time.
The company is set to deliver its first quarter 2025 results in mid-May.
