German data center firm Maincubes has broken ground on a new campus in Berlin.
The company this week held a groundbreaking ceremony in Nauen for its BER02 site.
“With the official start of construction for the substation and the cable route, we have reached an important milestone for our new data center campus in Nauen,” the company said.
The new substation will support the 200MW campus, with future potential to scale to 400MW. The first phase is due to launch in December 2027.
Nauen is a town west of Berlin. Maincubes acquired the land for the Nauen site in October 2024 and announced plans for the campus the following year.
Founded in 2012, Frankfurt-based Maincubes currently operates one data center in Amsterdam and three in Frankfurt, with plans for a fourth.
BER01, the company’s other facility around the German capital, offers 8.3MW across 5,100 sqm (54,895 sq ft). Located in the GoWest commercial district in Berlin’s Schmargendorf district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, it is a single-tenant facility.
The company is majority owned by investment group DTCP.
