As reported by the Rheinische Post, Rheinbahn announced its plans at the meeting of the district council on November 28, 2024.

The five-story facility would have a height of 20 meters and a 22-meter access tower, and would include space for seminar and training rooms.

Its proposal exceeds the maximum height of 12 meters stipulated in the district development plan.

However, the building inspectorate voiced no concerns about the proposed facility and granted the necessary exemption for the build, according to district documents.

Further details and specifications are yet to be disclosed.

Rheinbahn is a public transport operator with a network of 11 light rail lines, 92 bus lines, and a tram system. The operator said it has a rail network spanning 155.2km, as of 2021. The City of Düsseldorf has a five percent stake in the company.

Rheinbahn currently operates its rail network in Düsseldorf, Meerbusch, and Kreis Mettmann.

Digital Realty, AtlasEdge, Equinix, Lumen, and Exa Infrastructure all operate from within the Düsseldorf region.
