The Luxembourg-based company will be launching a new data center on April 15 in Incheon, Korea, reports the Korea JoongAng Daily.

Gcore will initially have the data center equipped with 320 Nvidia H100 GPUs stacked onto 40 servers. Each server also has 2 terabytes of data storage and 112 CPU cores, with a bandwidth of 3.2 Tbps.

Gcore plans to expand this to more than 1,000 GPUs by the end of the year and will include H200s and GB200s.

“The Incheon center is Gcore’s first data center to open in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Gcore Korea’s head, Jung Hyun-yong. “We chose Korea because of the escalating demand to implement and utilize AI from Korean companies.”

The data center will be operated by both Gcore and NHN Cloud, with the two companies having signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) last year.

NHN Cloud is reportedly helping Gcore to enter the market and secure clients, with the hope that Gcore will do the same for NHN in Europe. The company similarly develops GPU farms in Korea, claiming to have the largest in Korea split between three data centers in Pangyo, Pyeongchon, and Gwangju.

“NHN Cloud considers Gcore to be a partner that could fill in the gaps in platform areas where we may be lacking,” NHN Cloud CEO Kim Dong-hoon said.

Kim added that the companies plan to acquire as many GPUs as possible to meet the supply for customers affordably, and quickly.

Which data center Gcore will specifically be hosted in is unclear. According to DataCenterMap, Seoul has 24 data centers across the city, however does not list any in nearby Incheon. Digital Edge began constructing a data center in Incheon in April 2023, and the facility is expected to come into service this year.

Gcore has existing AI clusters in Wales, Amsterdam, and two in Luxembourg with the latter's second launching in October 2023.

Earlier this year, the company launched a new severless Edge solution called FastEdge which is built upon its content delivery network and distributes the custom code across more than 160 Edge nodes worldwide. Customers can use FastEdge for 'lightweight' AI model executions.

Overall, Gcore has PoPs in over 140 regions and more than 20 cloud locations. The company was founded in 2014, first launching its CDN and hosting services in 2016.
