Australian thermal management specialist GCM Corporation is expanding its range of novel high-performance heat sinks to cater for liquid-cooled data centers.

The Western Australia-based firm said it has “broadened its commercialization strategy to include direct engagement with liquid cooling OEMs servicing the AI server and hyperscale data center market.”

Its VHD range of heat sinks are built with a novel graphite-based material, which it claims offers superior thermal conductivity to traditional copper or aluminum alternatives. GCM has also expanded its VHD heat sink range from 21 to 44 products

Clinton Booth, CEO and managing director of GCM, said his company is continuing “to advance engagement with liquid cooling OEMs serving the data center market.”

“As AI drives chip power densities higher, thermal management has become a critical design consideration, with hyperscale operators increasingly relying on proven, specialist OEM providers," Booth said.

“By engaging directly with these OEMs, GCM is positioning its VHD products within cooling platforms for evaluation. This strategy has already demonstrated progress, with design and manufacture activities commencing with an established global liquid cooling OEM that has delivered solutions to hyperscale operators.

“Across product development, customer qualification, OEM engagement and distribution, GCM remains focused on advancing its commercial activities."

GCM also makes smaller heatsinks for PCs aimed at the gaming machine market. Its products remain at an early stage of development, and according to a report in The Australian have been supplied to unnamed customers in China, Europe, Korea and the US for testing and prototype development.
