Google Cloud and Formula E are expanding their partnership.

Revealed on January 8, the two companies are entering a new multi-year artificial intelligence (AI) and technology partnership.

As part of the agreement, Google Cloud will serve as Formula E’s Official Cloud Technology Services Partner and Official Cloud Security Partner.

The announcement follows Formula E's recent migration of its data to Google Cloud, along with its employees to Google Workspace.

Formula E will use Google's AI offerings as part of the expanded deal, including Vertex AI and Gemini models for driver performance analysis, and BigQuery to create personalized fan content.

Google will also provide "advanced security measures" to Formula E's data within the cloud and will continue to work with Formula E on the GENBETA car development program.

Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E, said: “We’re thrilled to announce an enhanced multi-year partnership with Google Cloud that will not just increase our technological capabilities, but also enhance our broader growth and evolution as a championship.

"Partnering with one of the most forward-thinking companies in the world will deliver a step-change for the series in how we’re able to continue producing some of the most exciting and innovative racing in the world. Building on previous successes and world records with the GENBETA innovation project, new technology, and solutions developed alongside Google Cloud will further enhance the performance and potential of our race cars, providing even faster, closer, and more action-packed racing for our fans."

Tara Brady, president, Google Cloud EMEA, said: “With Google Cloud's gen AI tools and advanced data analytics, including our Vertex AI platform and Gemini models, we're helping Formula E supercharge innovation in motorsport. Together, we're pushing the boundaries of sustainable racing, redefining what's possible on and off the track."

Formula E team Jaguar TCS Racing is also a Google Cloud customer, having made Google its official cloud partner in July 2024.
