Former T-Mobile CEO John Legere has joined Bermudan mobile carrier Paradise Mobile's board.
Legere, who stepped down in 2020 after eight years as CEO of T-Mobile, has joined Paradise Mobile as a strategic advisor who will sit on the board alongside another new member, Lawrence Guffey.
"Paradise Mobile is setting a new standard in the telecommunications industry with its focus on straightforward pricing and solving customer pain points. I'm excited to support the team and help them deliver the mobile experience customers deserve," said Legere.
During Legere's tenure at T-Mobile, he oversaw the company's merger with Sprint, which consolidated the US market down to three mobile network operators.
Meanwhile, Guffey, managing partner of LG Capital Investors, spent 22 years at The Blackstone Group, and is a long-time T-Mobile Board Member.
Legere and Guffey join existing Paradise Mobile advisors including Neville Ray, who previously worked at T-Mobile as president of technology.
Founded in 2019 by Sam Tabbara, formerly of Bell Canada, Paradise Mobile launched its 5G network in December of last year.
The company was set up to compete with Digicel and One Communications. Paradise is also eyeing expansion to other CARICOM markets.
Paradise selected Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its preferred cloud provider to help build its Open RAN 4G and 5G network last year, and has also struck a deal with Mavenir Telecom to support its network rollout.
