A new five-building data center campus is being proposed in Georgia.

Canoochee River RV Resort, LLC has filed an application with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for the ‘Canoochee River RV Resort - Data Center Project.’

Located at 2700 Airport Road in Metter, Candler County, the developer aims to build a data center campus on 470 acres of land adjacent to the Metter-Candler Airport and south of Interstate 16.

Metter is some 180 miles (290 km) southeast of Atlanta and around 64 miles (103 km) west of Savannah.

The proposed plans include five data center buildings totaling up to 250,000 sq ft (23,226 sqm) each. The developer aims to build in phases over a 5-7 year period to final completion in 2033.

An application has also been filed with the Candler County board to rezone the land from AG-3 to planned unit development (PUD) and would include two on-site substations.

The data centers would use a closed-loop cooling system to reduce water use.

News of the proposed campus surfaced last month after the county board detailed potential interest from the unnamed developer on social media.

Candler County officials voted against introducing a moratorium on data center developments earlier this month in a unanimous vote.
