The European Commission has opened up its draft assessment framework for public comment.
The Testing Inspection and Certification Council (TIC Council) is developing a framework to ensure that data centers are in compliance with the European Code of Conduct for Energy Efficiency in Data Centres.
"Data center activities can be classified as contributing substantially to climate change mitigation if they have implemented the expected practices of European Code of Conduct for Energy Efficiency in Data Centres from the European Joint Research Centre (JRC)," the TIC Council said.
The draft was published on November 2, with feedback available until Wednesday 16 November. Comments and questions on the draft can be directed to [email protected].
The document, which is viewable here, was created with the help of John Booth, Carbon3IT; Mark Acton, Acton Consulting; Colm Shorten, JLL; Max Schulze, SDI Alliance; and Nicolas Samman, Eaton; among others.
"A steering group convened by the [European Joint Research Centre] has closely followed the drafting process, commented on the framework, and advised the drafting group on its compatibility with the Code of Conduct," the TIC Council said.
