Equinix's chief technology officer, Dr. Justin Dustzadeh, has left the company.

Dustzadeh spent six-and-a-half years at the colocation and interconnection giant, but said that he had "decided to leave the company to embark on a new and exciting opportunity."

He has not shared where he will go next. Update: Dustzadeh has been named the CTO of software at HP.

"Thank you to all the customers and partners, the amazing Equinix leadership team, the exceptional CTO organization, and all my Equinix colleagues for the incredible experience, and the opportunity to deliver such significant, sustained impact through technology and architecture innovation and modernization, and transformation through software," Dustzadeh said.

"As I close this chapter, I do so with deep gratitude and immense pride in what we built together, and confidence in what lies ahead for Equinix. I’m excited to begin the next journey, carrying forward the lessons, partnerships, and momentum of the past 6.5 years. The best innovations are still in front of us. Onward!"

Prior to his role at Equinix, Dustzadeh was the head of global network & software platform at Uber for two years, VP & head of global infrastructure network services at Visa for two years, and the CTO of Huawei's networking business for three years, along with other roles.
