Equinix's chief information officer (CIO) and chief information security officer (CISO) have left the company without replacements in place.
CIO Milind Wagle left Equinix at the end of September after 14 years at the colo firm, while CISO Michael Montoya left on November 8 after five years with the business.
The departures have not been previously reported.
"The two departures are not related, and neither departure is related to a cyber incident," Equinix told DCD in a statement.
Nicole Collins, EVP of Business Operations at Equinix, will serve as interim head of the IT organization until a new CIO is appointed.
Greg Ogle, VP of global IT infrastructure, will take over the information security organization as interim leader until a new CISO is found.
The company was a victim of a ransomware attack back in 2020, but has suffered no major reported incidents since. “The defenses we built over the years, not just months or days, were critical in helping us respond, I think, very effectively,” Montoya told us at the time. “We know our assets, and we've done a lot of segmentation and hardening to restrict lateral movement.
"We want to even have greater levels of resiliency in our backups and we took additional measures there as well.”
Equinix appointed Adaire Fox-Martin as CEO earlier this year, who said that she plans to build fewer, larger data centers. This week, DCD exclusively reported that the company plans to kill off Equinix Metal.
