Equinix has completed the second stage of its London LD5 IBX data center, adding 4,000 sq m of customer space in Slough.
LD5 now caters for an additional 1,400 cabinet equivalents.
Four phases in total are planned for the data center ÔÇô once complete LD5 will cover 27,800 sq m of space and hold 5,600 cabinet equivalents.
LD5 first opened in April 2010 and sits on the same campus as LD4, another Equinix IBX data center.
Both are connected by 1,000 diverse dark fiber links and have access to 40 carriers, including low latency diverse fiber routes into the Central London's financial services district.
The campus is already home to financial trading platforms such as Chi-X, Fixnetix and State Street Bank, which make use of latency speeds for information sharing.
Deutsche Telekom's outsourcing division T-Systems uses Equinix's London data centers. It has a footprint over both LD5 and LD4 data centers, T-Systems senior manager of data centers Tom Murphy said.
