Dublin bringing to half the amount of space it has let since leasing the 120,000 sq ft facility from Digital Realty Trust last summer.
The deal will see Eircom deliver comprehensive data hosting services and managed high-speed internet connectivity for Hostopia.
Colin Campbell, CEO, Hostopia said "We have very strong ambitions to aggressively drive business across the EU and Ireland seemed the obvious location to explore. From the outset we liked Eircom's style of business. It's clear they're not a company with a one size fits all approach - partnership is key for us and clearly it's the same for them. There was an obvious willingness on their part to be flexible and adapt to our changing needs. Eircom's solution provides us with a range of connectivity options and resilience guarantees but most importantly we have scalability options to facilitate our growth plans."
Declan Ivory, General Manager, Data Centre Services, Eircom, said: "We are not doing a full managed service for Hostopia but are giving them a caged environment, rack infrastructure (they are running more than 5 KW to the rack) and cable management. Once their equipment was in place they were impressed by how quickly we sorted out the connectivity. There is a significant cost saving element to managed services. At this point the recession has pretty much hit everyone and its no surprise that in lean times businesses look to maximise efficiency and minimise costs."
Eircom's 120,000 sq. foot Clonshaugh facility doubles the company's data center capacity and links with Eircom's existing data centers in Dublin (Citywest and Crown Alley) over Eircom's high speed Next Generation IP network. Customers include Department of Transport (Motor Tax Online), Phonovation, and AXA Insurance.
Hostopia has centres in Toronto Ontario, Miramichi New Brunswick and Nikolayev Ukraine, the company is a leading provider of web services that enable small- and medium-sized businesses to establish and maintain an Internet presence. It offers solutions to communication service providers including telecommunication carriers, cable companies, Internet service providers, domain registrars, and web hosting service providers.
