The companies signed a Joint Development Agreement to integrate Rimac Technology’s battery and power electronics with Ecoblox’s AI infrastructure, MDC architecture, design, and hardware/software system integration to deliver a high-density modular data center solution.

The modular data center will integrate Rimac’s UNI battery modules, which the companies claim will enable longer continuous backup power for critical computing hardware. The integration will include Rimac’s battery management system, which will provide Ecoblox with real-time monitoring and control to manage the modular unit.

Rimac’s UNI battery modules are designed for use across automotive, energy storage, marine, off-highway, commercial, and industrial applications. This deployment will be the first time they are used in data center infrastructure.

The first modular data center is expected to be completed in November and will be sited at the Rimac campus in Kerestinec, Croatia.

"Partnering with Rimac Technology allows us to redefine high-density power delivery for the next generation of AI compute," said Doug Makishima, CEO at Ecoblox. "By integrating automotive-grade energy storage and power electronics directly into our modular data center architecture, we are removing grid constraints and enabling cloud providers and enterprise customers to deploy scalable, power-resilient AI clusters faster and more efficiently than ever before."

Nurdin Pitarevic, CEO of Rimac Technology, added: "Our battery and power electronics technologies have been developed and industrialized to meet some of the most demanding requirements in the automotive industry. The same capabilities are increasingly relevant to high-power AI infrastructure, where power density, thermal management, safety, and reliability are critical. Together with Ecoblox, we are applying these technologies to a new high-power application and bringing automotive-grade technology to AI data centers."

Ecoblox is headquartered in Dubai, UAE, and offers a range of solutions, from rack-level to 20-40 ft modular data centers, plus custom module data centers, all designed for high-density workloads and compatible with Nvidia and AMD GPUs. The company claims that it can deploy the data centers in less than eight months.
