US power management company Eaton announced the launch of its new modular data center solution.
Eaton’s SmartRack modular data center combines racks, cooling, and service enclosures to withstand up to 150kW of equipment load.
The solution is designed for organizations looking to meet the growing demand for edge computing, machine learning, and AI.
The company says its modular data centers can be installed in a matter of days in facilities such as enterprise, colos, manufacturing facilities, and warehouses.
Jose L. Medina, product manager at Eaton, said: “The race is on as the rapid growth of AI and Edge computing increases the demand for small data centers with shorter development cycles, lower costs, and optimized capacity.”
Medina added that the company’s solution allows easy and fast deployment of data centers.
The modular data centers are available in 13 standard configurations that ship pre-built with in-row cooling units pre-installed. Custom configurations are available. The company said the offering is compatible with Eaton’s line of cooling systems, PDUs, single-phase and three-phase UPSs, and its Brightlaye software suite for remote management and monitoring.
Other providers of prefabricated data center modules include Scheider, Vertiv, Huawei, DXN, EfficiencyIT, Secure I.T. Environments, Mavin, Sonic Edge, Modul'Data Center, Compass, LiquidStack, and others.
Eaton was founded in 1911 as a manufacturer of automotive parts, and has since expanded into multiple forms of power management. It reported revenues of $20.8 billion in 2022, and last year acquired a 49 percent stake in Chinese power distribution firm Jiangsu Ryan Electrical, a manufacturer of dry-type transformers.
Eaton announced the launch of its 6kVA power rated lithium-ion UPS in August last year and launched a compact UPS in December 2023.
