DigitalBridge has made a bid worth around $631.2 million to acquire Japanese telecom infrastructure company JTower.
In a statement, JTower has advised its shareholders to accept the tender offer which will take the company private. The tender offer runs until October 10.
Founded in 2012, JTower has around 6,700 telecom towers across Japan which offers infrastructure sharing to Japan's network carriers.
JTower noted that the acquisition of DigitalBridge will enable it to expand its deployment of network infrastructure across the company.
"The company has received representations from DigitalBridge that it is prepared to provide additional equity capital required to fully support the growth of the company group after the company goes private through the tender offer, and through the tender offer, we expect that we will be able to raise funds for growth in an agile and stable manner from DigitalBridge," said JTower in a statement.
JTower will maintain its business alliance with existing capital partners, NTT, NTT Docomo, and KDDI.
Last year, NTT Docomo struck a master transaction agreement with JTower to transfer the ownership of 1,552 Docomo towers to JTower for the sum of 17 billion yen ($115.6 million), which Docomo will subsequently lease from JTower.
A year earlier JTower acquired 6,002 towers from Docomo.
Earlier this week, JTower paired with Docomo to develop a glass antenna that it claims can "turn windows into base stations," to deliver 5G services in Tokyo, Japan.
DigitalBridge has investments in several infrastructure assets such as cell towers, data centers, fiber and small cells, and Edge infrastructure.
