The company has announced it is looking to develop three single-story data centers on 476 acres in Kokomo.

Kokomo is a city and the county seat of Howard County, some 50 miles north of Indianapolis.

Located on greenfield land in the city’s Industrial Park North near US 31 and County Road 400 North, the campus could total around 1GW of IT capacity across some three million sq ft (278,710 sqm) of data center space. The campus could be fully built out by 2033.

Digital Realty doesn’t currently operate any data centers in Indiana.

The city of Kokomo first announced Digital’s interest in developing in the city earlier this month. The city has said the site will use a closed-loop cooling system to reduce water use.

The city has also said there will be no tax abatements agreed with any company that develops the site.
