Digital Realty has bought a 155-acre plot for $160 million in Charlotte, North Carolina.

As reported by Charlotte Business Journal, the site located at 12899 Moores Chapel Road suggests that the operator is looking to expand its presence in the area.

The property is around 12 miles west of downtown Charlotte in Mecklenburg County. Digital Realty already operates three other facilities in Charlotte.

Other details have not been shared.

The parcel was sold by Graeme Keith’s Keith Corp. The Keith Corporation is a commercial real estate firm headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. Its portfolio includes hospitals, Fortune 500 corporations, and industrial giants. The company said it is a faith-based company, following Christian morals.

Digital Realty has a portfolio of more than 300 data centers across 55 metropolitan areas globally. In the company’s Q3 earnings, it reported revenues of more than $1.4 billion, a five percent increase from the previous quarter.

The majority of data centers in North Carolina are located in and around Charlotte, with a second cluster concentrated in Raleigh. In September 2024, PowerHouse expressed an interest in developing a significant data center campus in the state, and Microsoft broke ground on a third campus in Catawba County. Google is reportedly planning to expand its campus near Charlotte.
