Courier and logistics company DHL is expanding its North American data center logistics infrastructure to meet demand, with ten warehouse sites set to go live this year.

Announced this week, the company’s infrastructure expansion is part of its aim to become an end-to-end logistics provider for data center developers. The new facilities will offer white-glove handling, rack configuration services, and specialized warehouse-to-site transportation.

White-glove handling refers to a premium logistics service designed for expensive or fragile items, like computer hardware or power modules.

This is “only the beginning of our group-wide expansion in this fast-growing sector,” said the CEO of DHL Supply Chain, Hendrik Venter. “North America… is a first major step, with additional regions already scheduled for further capacity upgrades.”

In total, the ten facilities will total more than 7 million sq ft (650,000 sqm) of space. Details about their locations were not provided.

DHL is one of the world’s largest logistics companies. Founded in the US, it is headquartered in Germany.
