Data center developer Headwaters Site Development is eyeing an approximately 890-acre land parcel in Graham, Texas, for the construction of a data center called 'Project Saltworks.'

Headwaters, an affiliate of data center development company Stream Data Centers, has said that 15 data center buildings would be built on the site, which is located south of Lake Graham and is bounded by FM 61 and FM 209.

The company has also said that the project would require $10 billion of investment. A tax impact document authored by the Young County Appraisal District – which assumes that Project Saltworks would be worth $1 billion in investment – states that at that valuation, the project would generate around $14 million in revenues for local school districts and hospital districts.

Details about the project’s estimated capacity were not provided.

Hydrogen firm Plug Power this month sold land in Graham previously earmarked for a new hydrogen plant to Stream. Plug sold some 66 acres of land and a 164MW grid connection to the data center firm for $76.5 million.

It is unclear whether Headwaters has actually submitted a formal application to construct Project Saltworks. DCD has reached out to confirm.

But the City of Graham has voted in favor of a proposal to place money into escrow to cover consultant fees for the project, which are set to be reimbursed by Headwaters, as reported by KFDX.

The City of Graham is located around 90 miles (145km) west of Fort Worth-Dallas. There are no data centers in the city, according to Data Center Map.
