Industrial real estate developer MRP Industrial may build a data center campus instead of a warehouse project on a 288-acre land parcel in Perry County, Pennsylvania.

Located between Amity Road, the Susquehanna Trail, and the US 0322/0022, the campus would consist of ten 138,000 sq ft (12,820 sqm) data center buildings, according to a site plan submitted to Watts Township, which is within Perry County limits.

The project is in its early stages of planning, and no approvals have been obtained yet. Plans for the data center were discussed at a Planning Commission meeting on April 8.

MRP Industrial previously intended to use the land parcel for a logistics hub called Susquehanna Crossings, but planning difficulties led the company to drop its plans for the hub late last year.

Watts Township is also currently considering whether to implement a zoning ordinance that would include data centers as a use.

Perry County is located in central Pennsylvania, to the northwest of Harrisburg. It is not a data center hotspot, though the state as a whole is quickly growing in capacity.

MRP Industrial is a real estate developer with a focus on the US East Coast. The company’s previous projects include business parks, malls, and logistics facilities.
