Akamai and Hive Digital Technologies' Buzz HPC have separately secured major cloud computing customers this month.

Akamai revealed during its Q2 2026 earnings call that it secured a four-year commitment from an unnamed US-based technology company worth $600 million.

Akamai's CEO, Frank Thomson Leighton, told analysts: "We were very pleased to announce today that a US-based technology company has committed more than $600 million over four years for our cloud infrastructure services to power their robotics development.

"The addition of this new customer brings the total volume of the multiyear commitments signed so far this year for our cloud infrastructure services to more than $2.8 billion. As a result of these commitments and the exceptionally strong pipeline we are seeing, we now anticipate that Akamai's overall revenue growth will accelerate into the low teens in 2027."

Few further details were provided, but later in the earnings call, CFO Edward McGowan noted that the company's GPU capacity was completely sold out, and the contract will see the company needing to invest a further $500m in capex to "replenish and expand our GPU capacity."

The company's overall revenue for the quarter was $1.1 billion, up five percent Year-on-Year (YoY), and within that, the cloud infrastructure services segment brought in $99.3m, up 39 percent YoY.

Hive Digital Technologies' Buzz HPC, meanwhile, today revealed it has signed a five-year GPU cloud services agreement with an enterprise customer valued at $350m over the duration.

The new contract brings Buzz HPC's total annualized revenue $180m, comprised of approximately $35m in active, realized ARR today and approximately $145m in contracted ARR expected to come online through Q4 2026.

Further details have been provided about the Buzz HPC contract, though the customer has not been named. The agreement will see the customer leasing a dedicated AI infrastructure cluster of 2,016 Nvidia Blackwell Ultra GPUs in Nvidia GB300 NVL72 systems, and will be housed at the Bell AI Fabric data center in Merritt, British Columbia, Canada. The cluster is expected to be delivered and deployed by the end of this year.

Buzz HPC will use Vast Data's operating system for the cluster.

Buzz HPC has an ongoing relationship with Bell Canada in which it uses capacity at Bell's data centers across the country. Buzz secured 6.5MW at the Merritt facility in March of this year.
