DCP said the site will offer 6,300 sqm (67,810 sq ft) of white space across three floors and will target a PUE of 1.2. The facility has also been designed according to Tier III standards.

The first phase of the project is expected to provide 8MW of capacity by mid-2027. Timelines for consecutive phases have not been shared.

The operator is also in talks with the municipality about implementing a waste heat reuse concept.

“With industries such as IT, automotive, aerospace, media, gaming, TV, telecom, finance or insurance, and tech giants having their German headquarters in Munich, Bavaria is in need of additional compute power for all AI, machine learning, cloud, HPC, backup or storage applications,” said Jörgen Venot, principal leasing at DCP.

Gian Marco Krömer, CCO at Data Center Partners, added: “This data center is technically designed with a hybrid technical solution ready to cope with classic IT densities as well as with the extremely demanding AI and machine learning IT loads.”

Founded in 2021, DCP currently has 200MW of capacity operational or under development. The company is focused on the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), with projects in Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Berlin, and Heidelberg in Germany, and Graz in Austria.

The majority of data centers in Germany have been concentrated in Frankfurt, however, Munich is home to the likes of NTT, EdgeConneX, Lumen, Exa Infrastructure, and Equinix.
