At DCD>Zettastructure in London last month, Patrick Ohlund, CEO of Swedish data center development initiative Node Pole, discussed the company’s acquisition by Swedish utilities Vattenfall and Skellefteå, and Node Pole’s core purpose: attracting investment to Sweden, and the Nordics in general.
He said: “First you have obvious things with low cost energy that is also green and sustainable, you also have a very high degree of innovation, a lot of new companies and good competence. It’s very easy to do business in Sweden.
”It’s got cheap land, cheap energy, and you can expand as much as you want.”
He added: ”Sweden has very good connectivity, both to and from the Nordic countries and between them. Energy cost limitations in London, Ireland, the Netherlands will make people look elsewhere.”
